Rowing. One of the toughest sports. Rowers will tell you that real athletes row and all others just play games. Come learn about it Sunday, March 15, 2-3:30 PM at the Milton Public Library.
Milton Crew is partnering with the library’s Milton Reads and will be at the library so that you can learn about the sport of rowing and find out about opportunities to row and watch rowing.
This season, the selection for Milton Reads, the town-wide read, is The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
This free event is co-sponsored by Friends of the Milton Library, which manages Milton Reads, and Friends of Milton Crew, which manages the Neponset Rowing Club and Milton Crew. Neponset Rowing Club provides “learn to row” and competitive rowing for adults in Milton and surrounding areas. On the water training will be held at Milton Landing (35 Wharf Street). The on the water practice schedule is dependent upon the tidal patterns of the Neponset River. Milton Crew (go Wildcats!) is the rowing program for student athletes (grades 9-12) enrolled at Milton High School.
Come find out what it is to catch a crab! Suitable for families.
Upcoming events related to The Boys in the Boat include the Family Olympics 3/21, Book Chat with library director Will Adamczyk 3/24, Trivia! at ester restaurant 3/29, film showing “Miracle” 3/23, film showing “Unbroken” 3/30, and a final event with Olympic rowers 3/31.
