During the month of March, the Milton Public Library is offering a lot of fun programs for adults and families. Most events will be held in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the library.
On Sunday, March lst at 2 PM there will be an author talk with Lorenz J. Finison about his book called Boston’s Cycling Craze, 1880-1900: A Story of Race, Sport, and Society. Mr. Finison is the founder of the organization called “Cycling Through History” and his book explores the remarkable rise of Boston cycling through the lives of several enthusiasts, including many local women. Then on Thursday, 3/5/15 at 7 PM and Saturday, 3/21/15 at 10 AM in the Conference Room (lower level), our ongoing program called “Knitting with Nina” will be held. This get-together is for knitters of all levels, is free and open to the public, and is taught by Milton expert Nina Zonnevylle.
On Friday, 3/6/15 at 11 AM in the Conference Room, Will Adamczyk will offer his once-a-month “First Friday Book Chat with Will” so please join him to discuss new and upcoming fiction and non-fiction, and find something great to read! Also there will be a wonderful concert on Saturday, March 7th at 2 PM with Dan Clark “The Singing Trooper” and his wife, Mary Colarusso Clark who is a very talented opera singer. The Clarks will perform Irish songs in their usual charming style and we are sure a fun time will be had by all. Do not miss this event to get you all in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day revelry!
And finally on Wednesday, 3/25/15 at 7 PM, talented Milton author Hallie Ephron will talk about her new novel called Night Night, Sleep Tight. This unsettling story is about the character Deirdre Unger who makes the drive from San Diego to Beverly Hills to help her screenwriter father put his dilapidated house on the market. She is expecting to deal with his usual kvetching and dark moods, but she gets a lot more than expected when she arrives home to find her father dead in his too-small swimming pool. Come listen to this fascinating book talk where copies will be available for purchase and signing.
Along with these great events, the library’s special “Milton Reads” program takes off in March. The selected town-wide book is The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown. Copies are available for borrowing at the first-floor circulation desk and reserve your copy today! A complete list of Milton Reads speakers, films and a trivia night is available both at the library and at the website which is www.miltonlibrary.org. Watch for updates.
