Argo concludes winter film series

The Ben Affleck film “Argo” will conclude the Winter Film Series co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills and the First Congregational Church of Milton on Saturday evening, February 7, at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:45). The film will be screened in Huntington Hall of the First Congregational Church, 495 Canton Avenue, Milton, with entry at the side door, and it is open to the public.

?The theme of this year’s Winter Film Series is “Political Lives and Lies.” In “Argo”, acting under the cover of a Hollywood producer scouting a location for a science fiction film, a CIA agent launches a dangerous operation to rescue six Americans in Tehran during the U.S. hostage crisis in 1980. Starring and directed by Ben Affleck, the 2012 film won three Academy Awards, including best motion picture.

?The film will be followed by a brief discussion about the long memory of politics, and what will it take to envision a new future between the U.S. and Iran?
