It was really quite the affair, a high tea, right here in Milton! For the 2nd year running the Friends of the Library hosted a sold out event, the Downton Abbey Tea. To be honest it was all quite posh.

The bloomin’ event which took place January 4th sold out in just one day (Crikey!). The capacity crowd included luminaries from all across town including Representative Timilty (pictured below with with local musicians).

The proceeds raised from the event fund Library programming sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

The Friends of the Library is an advocacy and support organization for our local library. They do a wonderful job and we encourage all to consider membership. You can learn more about the organization and what they do here.

Here are some more photos from the event. (Photos courtesy of the Friends of the Library).

And if you are not currently a fan of Downton Abby, you really should give it a go. It can be enjoyed on multiple levels not the least of which is simply as a series of minor moments in the lives of a variety of people that attempt to carry on as the tides of time and its events toss them to and fro. Here is a sample from my favorite two characters:

Mrs. Hughes: You can always hold my hand if it will make you feel a bit steady.
Carson: I don’t know how, but you managed to make that sound a little risque.
Mrs. Hughes: And if I did, we’re gettin’ on Mr. Carson, you and I. We can afford to live a little.
