Riverside Theatre Works Holds Auditions for Two Upcoming Musicals

Riverside Theatre Works will hold auditions for two major productions in January. Auditions for Freckleface Strawberry The Musical will take place on Sunday, January 4 from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Monday, January from 7 to 9 p.m. Auditions for Les Miserables will be held on Sunday, January 11 from 12:30 – 5 p.m. and 6:30 – 10 p.m., and on Monday, January 12 from 7 – 10 p.m.

Actors are welcome to audition for both shows, as the rehearsal schedule for Les Miserables will not conflict with Freckleface Strawberry.

Freckleface Strawberry tells the tale of a girl who was just like every other girl – except she had bright red hair and something worse…FRECKLES! The musical, performed by adults portraying kids, is based on the beloved children’s book by celebrated actress Julianne Moore. With the help of her loveable schoolmates, including an amazingly talented ballerina, a cutie jock, a charming ditz, and a totally kooky teacher, Freckleface learns that everyone is different – and that’s what makes everyone special. The show will be directed by Toni Ruscio, with musical direction by Danielle Clougher and choreography by New York performer Laura Graczyk, and will run February 28 through March 7.

Actors and actresses 17 years old and above are welcome to audition.

Les Miserables has won countless awards and is one of the best-loved and most-performed shows in the world. In 19th century France, Jean Valjean is released from 19 years of unjust imprisonment, but finds nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. He breaks his parole in hopes of starting a new life, initiating a life-long struggle for redemption as he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert, who refuses to believe Valjean can change his ways. Finally, during the Paris student uprising of 1832, Javert must confront his ideals after Valjean spares his life and saves that of the student revolutionary who has captured the heart of Valjean’s adopted daughter.

Les Miserables will be directed and choreographed by PJ Terranova, with musical direction by Marilyn Whipple. Show dates are May 8 – 17. Riverside is seeking a large ensemble in addition to the principal roles.

All auditions will take place at Riverside Theatre Works, 45 Fairmount Avenue, Hyde Park. Please visit rtwboston.com for complete character descriptions, vocal ranges and audition requirements. Auditions for both shows are by appointment, so please call 617-361-7024, ext. 100 to book your appointment.
