Fontbonne Academy joins the Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy

News release from Fontbonne Academy

Fontbonne Academy will be the first all-girls Catholic high school to participate in the Babson Entrepreneurial Leadership Academy, sponsored by Babson College. Babson has the top ranked entrepreneurship program according to U.S. News and World Report and Entrepreneur Magazine.

Sixteen Fontbonne will participate in hands-on experiential entrepreneurial education with a Babson faculty member, guest speakers and panels at Fontbonne Academy and Babson College.

The students will divide into teams of 3 – 4 people and work together to come up with a business plan, either for-profit or non-profit, to address an issue they face every day. They will compete for The Fontbonne Cup in March 2015 to determine the top two teams that will go on to compete in the Babson Boston Cup, a business plan competition to be held in April 2015. Fontbonne Academy will compete against other schools in the area, including BC High, St. John’s Prep, Newman Prep, Boston Latin School, and Brookline High School.

This educational opportunity adds a new dimension to the educational experience at Fontbonne and aligns well to the school’s mission to prepare young women to become leaders in an ever-changing world. “We are extremely pleased to be the first all-girls school to participate in this program.” said Susan M. Degnan ’79, Head of School. “Being aligned with Babson College will ensure that our students will be exposed to the best entrepreneurship education in the country. It will also enhance our outstanding curriculum and distinguish Fontbonne in our area.”
