Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, formerly Temple Shalom of Milton and Temple Beth El of Quincy, will celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukah with a Community-wide Family Celebration and Fundraiser on Sunday, December 21, from 11 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. at Pierce Middle School, 451 Central Ave. (crnr. Brook Rd.), Milton. This family Hanukah event for all ages will be under the direction of Education Director Nancy Mollitor and Rabbi Alfred Benjamin.
The celebration, sponsored by the congregation’s Religious School, will include latkes, sufganiyot (jelly donuts), arts & crafts, games, raffles, shopping, and a balloon artist. The event is open to the entire community. Admission is $5/pp, $3 under age 13 and free for children 3 and under, with a family maximum of $12.00.
This event is part of Beth Shalom’s regular observance and celebration of all the holidays on the Jewish calendar, both solemn and festive. Hanukah is an eight day celebration of freedom, commemorating an ancient Jewish victory over tyranny and oppression against overwhelming odds. It is observed this year from the evening of December 16th through December 24th.
