Break in on Brewster Road; cont’d vigilance encouraged

The Milton Police report that a home on Brewster Road broken into today between 10:30 and 11:00 a home on. According to MPD Facebook post, “Access to the home was gained by the back door being kicked in. Please keep a watchful eye on your home and your neighbors homes. Call the police if you notice suspicious parties or vehicles in the area. Todays incident is still currently under investigation.”

In addition to the house break there have been several car breaks over the last two nights on Blue HIll Avenue.

In related news there was an item in today’s Ledger reporting “Some South Shore communities see uptick in property crime.” While Milton is mentioned in the story, house breaks here are actually down in significantly in 2014 from 2013.

The MPD attribute the success in part from the continued interest and action of citizens calling MPD.  They average about 1300 calls relative to “Suspicious Activity.” They encourage residents to stay vigilant at all times, to lock cars and homes, and to report activity that looks suspicious. Continued diligence is essential.

Opioid use continues to be a significant problem on the south shore. The Globe reports on efforts by District Attorney Morrissey to reduce the number of crashes and overdoses. The MPD notes that property crimes are a common theme amount drug dependent individuals.
