Screen Shot 2014-10-30 at 7.24.35 AMOn Saturday, November 8 Milton’s night life gets a shot in the arm with the appearance at the Milton Art Center of singer-songwriter Sara Hickman.

A native of Austin, Texas, Sara has spent over two decades becoming one of the top singer-songwriters in the country. She first gained fame with the 1990 Adult Alternative hit “I Couldn’t Help Myself.” This led to appearances on _The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson_, her very own VH-1 special, and tours with Daniel Fogelberg and Billy Bragg.

After recording several critically acclaimed releases on the Shanachie label, Sara launched her own label and expanded her catalog with award-winning children’s albums. A celebrated social activist, Sara used her position as 2010 State Musician of Texas to raise money for a theatrical group as well as establish Family Rocks!, a project that encourages families to make music together. She accomplished this feat by rallying fellow Texas musicians such a Willie Nelson and Shawn Colvin to record her songs on a benefit CD, _The Best of Times_.

Sara rolls into Milton on the heels of yet another acclaimed release, _Shine_. If you have never seen her before, come and appreciate her warmth and humor. She writes songs that lift your spirits – energetic songs that exude optimism and reflective songs that explore human relationships. Opening for Sara will be Brian King, a local musician who is building an appreciable buzz.

Tickets are $20. The show begins at 7:30. It’s recommended you buy tickets in advance at the Milton Art Center website at [www.miltonartcenter.org](http://www.miltonartcenter.org). The first concert in the series with Jill Sobule sold out. Don’t miss this one!
