Richard James “Richie” Cushing Jr., of Wayland, passed Sept. 5, 2014. Son of the late Richard James Cushing and Anne M. (Taylor) Cushing of Milton. Beloved father of Belinda F. Cushing of Huntington Beach, Calif. Dear brother of Mary Anne Cooney and Patrick J. Cooney of New York City, F. Gerard Cushing of Milton, James M. Cushing and his wife Maria Cushing of Fullerton, Calif., Coleen M. Kelley and the late Kevin Kelley of Seattle, Wash., Joseph P. Cushing and Cheryl Cushing of Moraga, Calif., Elizabeth A. Cushing and Thomas J. Hurney of Wayland, Mass. Survived by 12 nieces and nephews and hundreds of great friends, most especially Andy Anderson of The Villages, Fla., Ed Cassidy of Weymouth, Mass., and Tom and Maureen Jones of Quincy, Mass. Richie was an United States Army Veteran and was most proud of his service to his country during the Vietnam War. He worked for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company for 35 years and was a very proud member of the IBEW Local 103. Richie enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He was a friend of Bill W. for 30 years. Richie will be missed by all those who had the good fortune of knowing him. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday, Sept. 8, from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A celebration of life service was held in the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, prior to the funeral Mass in St. Mary of The Hills, Milton, at 10 a.m. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton.
