On Monday, September 22 from 6 to 8pm, join the teen department at the Milton Public Library and celebrate your freedom to read! This kickoff celebration will feature snacks, games, discussion of your favorite graphic novels and a free book giveaway!
Also this whole week: Read Away Your Fines. For every 30 minutes you read in the teen room, Amy will deduct $1.00 from your overdue fines. (Not applicable to lost or damaged materials). These programs are open to any teens in grades 6 to 12. Admission is free and this program is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
Banned Books Week 2014 is celebrated this year from September 22 to September 27. This year’s theme is “I read Banned Comics” and will focus on comics and graphic novels. Banned Books Week is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association; American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression; the American Library Association; American Society of Journalists and Authors; Association of American Publishers; Comic Book Legal Defense Fund; the Freedom to Read Foundation; National Coalition Against Censorship; National Council of Teachers of English; National Association of College Stores; PEN American Center and and Project Censored. It is endorsed by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
