MPD apprehend wanted fugitive

The Milton Police Department posted the following on their Facebook page

This morning Sgt. Det. Dan Brown observed a brown sedan exit Rte. 93 at Granite Ave. He noticed that the car was moving at an excessive rate and had major damage to the rear end. He noted it was emitting sparks from the undercarriage. He attempted to stop this vehicle which immediately fled off Squantum St. into the Christopher Drive/California Ave neighborhood. The operator attempting to evade police, lost control on Lochland St and came to rest on the front lawn of a home at the corner of California Ave.

The operator, a male subject, immediately fled from the car into the Neponset River marsh between Christopher Drive and Hurcroft Rd. Numerous units including MPD K9’s formed a large perimeter and began a search for this individual in the driving rain.

Information was obtained from MSP that this vehicle had fled from an MVA on Rte. 93. The suspect was captured by MPD Officer Patty Mandeville and other units after he was found hiding under a deck on Hurlcroft Rd.
Investigation into this suspect who lives in Peabody, revealed he is a wanted fugitive from Essex County with active felony warrants. The vehicle which was totaled, was removed from the scene and the suspect is in MPD lockup tonight awaiting arraignment in Quincy District Court in the am. Keen observation by Sgt. Brown and very quick work on behalf on all of the officers involved today.
