Starting and operating a business for a decade is an accomplishment. So it is natural that Milton photographer, Jess McDaniel, wanted to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Boston Baby Photos. What is a little more surprising is the $6,106.00 check she presented to the Jimmy Fund at the culmination of that celebration. Just one woman making a difference.
McDaniel, a very good photographer (go here), raised the money in two ways. By holding a contest a) giving away the winners and offering the remaining images for sale at a series of shows and b) hosting fundraising a couple of fundraising events around the show.
It started here in Milton with a display in the Wotiz Gallery at the Milton Public Library and an opening party/ fundraiser at Steel & Rye. The show then travelled to a couple of BPL branches (South End and Jamaica Plain, the offices of The Real Estate Group at Ashmont, and the Brookline Public Library. The Brookline Library also hosted the closing reception and fundraiser at which Ms McDaniel presented the check to a representative from the Jimmy Fund. Pretty amazing.
Congratulations Ms McDaniel on the business achievement, kudos on her creativity, and a huge thank you for all the generosity in support of a great cause.
