June 21-22, Governor Hutchinson’s Field, Adams St., Milton Hill
Anyone who lives in Milton or Dorchester has passed Governor Hutchinson’s Field atop Milton Hill hundreds of times. This beautiful parcel is owned and maintained by the Trustees of the Reservation. The Field offers a spectacular view of the Boston skyline and the Neponset River basin.
Last year a local committee was formed after the very successful Milton 350th Celebration in 2012. “We are Milton” (WAM) engineered the first Milton Music Festival in June of 2013, with an impressive fireworks display launched from the River below as the finale of the evening. The event was sponsored by the Copeland Foundation of Milton.
This year “We are Milton” is back. For 2014, event planners have included a full afternoon of Irish Music on Sunday June 22nd. Once again ADMISSION FOR BOTH DAYS IS FREE.
MMF will begin at 5 pm of Saturday June 21st. The evening will feature some first time musical groups including the Quincy Choral Society and the celebrated Boston Crusaders Senior Drum and Bugle Corps. There will be food, ice cream, face painting and more. Saturday evening’s musical lineup will conclude with a brilliant fireworks display beginning at 10pm.
On Sunday afternoon June 22nd, the festival will continue with 6 hours of continuous Irish Music on the main stage beginning at 1pm. Milton has deep Irish roots and the committee is pleased to offer music enthusiasts, “Celtic Sunday.”
Headlining the afternoon is the legendary Frankie Gavin and De Dannan.
De Dannan is one of Ireland’s most renowned recording groups. They have travelled the world and are flying direct from Ireland to headline Sunday’s lineup of talent.
In addition to De Dannan, Celtic Sunday will feature some of Boston’s most popular bands including The Fenian Sons, Cat and the Moon, Erin’s Melody, Devri Irish, and Milton’s own, Pauline Wells. There will be food, drink, an Irish pastry and tea tent, homemade pizza and much more.
Free parking is available both days just down the street at Laboure’ College 303 Adams St. Shuttle busses will run round trip to Hutchinson’s Field.

May I suggest that for 2014 event at Hutchinson Field, the area grass mowing occur first, and look into whether anti-tick agent of some kind could be deployed. Lyme disease is no joke and a very big concern for kids and anyone sitting or walking in the field there.
Lynda Lee Sheridan attended the last Selectmen’s meeting to announce the event. She said the field would be sprayed for ticks.
