Celebrate Flag Day with the Milton Historical Society on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 1PM – 3PM at the Suffolk Resolves House, 1370 Canton Avenue, Milton. This event is free and open to the public; families are especially encouraged to attend.
Commemorate 237th anniversary of the adoption of the American flag with special activities for all ages. Children can learn about flags from our nation’s history and have a chance to design their own flag to take home or display in the historic Suffolk Resolves House. Families can learn about Milton’s important contributions to American History by touring the historic Suffolk Resolves house. Photos and work by students as part of Milton’s annual 5th grade history tour programs, sponsored and organized by the Milton Historical Society, will be on view.
Children and adults can experience history reenacted. Watch Revolutionary War re-enactors from the 9th Massachusetts Regiment perform drills in the front lawn. Meet Dr. Joseph Warren, President of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress and hero at the Battle of Bunker Hill. Dr. Joseph Warren is portrayed by Michael LePage, an experienced historic presenter who has appeared at Adams National Historical Park, the Paul Revere House, and many other historical venues.
Spend an afternoon of free family fun immersed in the excitement of the American Revolution. Bring a picnic to enjoy together on our lawn. Handcrafted sandwiches and treats will also be available for purchase on site, courtesy of The Plate, 27 Central Avenue, Milton.
