ester Invites the Neighborhood to Fall in Love with Lower Mills’ new Dining Home Away from Home

Today is the day – there is now a new restaurant in Dorchester’s Lower Mills open for business. We wish them the best of success.

The much anticipated opening of ester, located at 2261 Dorchester Avenue in historic Lower Mills at the property formerly occupied by The Ledge is set for Saturday, April 5, 2014. ester features a happy, neighborhood vibe where everyone will immediately feel at home the minute they walk through the doors.

ester is the brainchild of Boston food service veteran and long-time Lower Mills resident Eleanor Arpino. She wanted to create a warm and inviting restaurant where guests would feel comfortable dining several times a week. Only the finest ingredients will be used including fresh produce from the expansive rooftop garden.

“2261 Dorchester Ave has been a dining destination the Lower Mills neighborhood has been proud to call home and I am overjoyed to extend the tradition while bringing an unmatched level of expertise to every aspect of a night out with the all the comforts of a night in,” says ester Owner, Eleanor Arpino.

Executive Chef Esteban Gallego has created a seasonal menu which will feature such tempting items as Antonia’s Meatballs, Risotto with Spring Vegetables, Steak Frites and Salmon with Harissa, Chickpeas and Spiced Yogurt. The full bar will feature a familiar cocktail menu plus new signature cocktails including The Dot and ester Tai.  Many wines by the glass as well as an extensive selection of draught and bottled beers will be available.  There is also an extensive children’s menu developed in accord with the new guidelines for better food choices.

With the experienced attention and passion of general manager Luther Pinckney at the front of the house, ester will be a place where everyone feels well cared for and welcomed.  A relaxed environment with warm hues, natural woods and soft lighting will make ester your spot for a quiet dinner, a meeting in the private dining room or a late night snack at the lively bar. There is also a large outdoor patio for dining, which will surely be the place to be during the season. ester

We dined on Thursday night and really enjoyed the experience. The front of the house got a light and lovely make-over, the staff and management were knowledgeable and friendly and the food was truly perfection all around. The new owners seem to have retainted the positive aspects of the former Ledge while creating a new and improved menu & atmosphere. I think ester will be big hit. Great job!!
