Milton Public School Art Students Recognized

The Milton Public Schools are proud to announce that 19 students at Milton High School have been named winners of the 2014 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards. Thousands of student submissions from across the state were judged by a panel from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

This competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious art competitions in the region.

Milton High students won 19 Awards all together, including one Gold Key, six Silver Keys, and 12 Honorable Mentions. Portfolio submissions consist of eight pieces of work submitted digitally and an artist statement from every senior who chose to submit a portfolio.

This year, Milton High School had the most portfolios submitted out of all the years competing with a total of 20 portfolios. Only seniors are allowed to submit portfolios and this is a huge undertaking on their part to have all their work ready to compete. The Gold Key winners’ work will be displayed at Boston City Hall from March 7th to March 30th.

The following Milton High School students earned awards. Congratulations to their teachers, Karen Hughes and Kassandra Derby:
