Thayer Nursery is a little farm in Milton that has had some unhappy neighbors.
Over the years, the nursery has dealt with its share of complaints from nearby residents who didn’t like the dust, noise, and smells that go along with running an agricultural and landscaping business. (Read the full story here. Note access requires a subscription.)
When considering buying a home, it is up to the prospective buyer to practice due diligence and evaluate the surroundings, not just view the house in the limited context of a two hour window on a quiet Sunday afternoon. An established business is expected to conduct their mission, generate customer traffic, receive and perform deliveries, store supplies, and grow within the confines of their property. That an abutter is unhappy with this is not the fault of the business. And that the company has already moved to store large equipment off site is a mark of cooperation in its community. This particular business has been a decades-long valuable and positive addition to Milton.
I read some of the comments posted on both Facebook and the Globe and after reading them, all I can say is apparently there is a place for hate in the small town of Milton.
Jim Finnigan, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH for sharing the truth!! the Board and the neighbors are following the law; Thayer wants special dispensation! If only all the negative naysayers knew all the facts. No one is trying to put Thayer out of business!
