Representative Walter F. Timilty (D–Milton) is pleased to announce two amendments that have been filed to House Bill 3860, the upcoming House of Representative iteration of a Transportation Bond Bill.
Through conversations with town department heads, Representative Timilty was able to formulate two amendments improving Milton’s transportation infrastructure, relative to public safety. After discussions with Fire Chief, Jack Grant, Representative Timilty filed Amendment 246 that will improve the Milton Fire Department’s, already stellar, response time. The $485,500 that was requested will integrate Milton’s fire vehicles and the traffic lights of 17 intersections throughout the town; resulting in automated light switches to allow easier access through intersections. In addition, Amendment 247 was filed with the intent of improving and reconstructing the sidewalks on Granite Avenue, from the Squantum Street intersection up to the Interstate 93 on ramp with $230,000 in funding. Both, Amendment 246 and Amendment 247, were co-sponsored by Representative Dan Cullinane (D – Boston).
Commenting on the two amendments Timilty stated “These amendments are an effort to provide the citizens of Milton with the highest level of public safety.”
