We flagged three important issues that were to be taken up this week at various board meetings: the Parks discussion of the relocation of the Swift Hat Shop, the status a new teacher contract, and approval of signage for a proposed Sleepy’s on Granite Ave. There is a teacher contract.
The Park Commissioners met and heard the proposal to move the Swift Hat Shop, the red clap board building at the corner of Adams and Wharf Street, to land under the control of the Parks Department. The building is owned by Mike Roberts who suggested the move to the Historical Commission. He offered to pay for the move. The Park Commissioners listened to the proposal and are taking it under advisement. They will resume discussion of the issue at their February meeting.
Last Tuesday the Milton Educators Association ratified a contract and on Wednesday evening the School Committee voted 5-1 to accept it. You can find a post on that here.
The Board of Selectmen did not take a vote on signage at for the site of a Sleepy’s on Granite Avenue as they had not received all the necessary materials in time to review prior to the meeting. Town Hall was closed due to the snow storm and consequently there were delays in sending out information.
