School receives $29,040 from Race to the Top program
Senator Brian A. Joyce is extending his congratulations to the faculty, staff and students of Pierce Middle School on being awarded a Professional Practice Innovation Grant from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Pierce was one of six schools chosen out of sixty statewide to receive funding.
“Pierce’s efforts illustrate the district’s commitment to providing the highest quality education possible to Milton students,” said Joyce. “Our schools are one of the many strengths the Milton community possesses that makes the town such an attractive place to settle and start a family.”
The grant was funded through money provided by the federal Race to the Top program. This grant opportunity is intended to support districts committed to advancing innovative professional practices that integrate implementation of two of the state’s highest priority projects: the educator evaluation system and the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The awards identify and promote innovative strategies that enhance educator effectiveness and increase student achievement through the integration of the new curriculum frameworks and the educator evaluation system.
