Milton Students appear in Nutcrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Special

Two young Milton residents will appear next month in Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical, a riotous holiday spoof at Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park.

Caitlin Caulfield, 11, and Eowyn Young, 9, join three other children as part of the Mount Saint Helen’s Children’s Choir, which performs with the beloved Nunsense nuns.

The fourth in a series of musicals based on the popular Nunsense characters, Nuncrackers tells the story of a cable access TV special, filmed in the basement of Mount Saint Helen’s Convent. Musical numbers include sing-along holiday classics to the country tune “Santa Ain’t Coming to My House,” and a dueling ballet between two unlikely Sugar Plum Fairies.

Performances will take place December 6 and 7 at 8 p.m., December 8 at 3 p.m., December 13 and 14 at 8 p.m., and December 15 at 3 p.m. at Riverside Theatre Works, 45 Fairmount Ave., Hyde Park. Prices range from $20-25 for adults and $18-22 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased at www.rtwboston.org or by calling 1-866-811-4111.

Caulfield and Young are already theater veterans. Caulfield, a sixth grader at Thayer Academy, has appeared on the RTW stage as Sharpay in High School Musical Jr. and Ursula the Sea Witch in The Little Mermaid Jr., as well as in productions of Annie, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Aladdin Jr.

Young, a third grader at Tucker Elementary, has appeared at RTW in Aladdin Jr. and The Wizard of Oz, and was featured as Young Cosette last summer in the Reagle Music Theater production of Les Miserables.
