The Friends of Crane Field and the East Congregational Church of Milton extend an open invitation to the Crane Field Centennial Commemoration, to be followed by a Neighborhood Block Party on Saturday, September 28, from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
The rain date is October 5.
State and local officials will be present during the festivities to dedicate a new commemorative plaque for the park. Food and family-friendly activities will abound. A food drive and several raffles, made possible by generous donations by local business, will support the Milton Food Pantry, ongoing maintenance of the park, and the installation of several memorial trees.
The 100-year-old park recognizes the 17th Century Milton settler Henry Crane. A descendant of Henry Crane opened a paper mill in the Lower Mills area in 1770. Although the business is no longer located in Milton, Crane & Co. continues to produce fine paper products including the stock on which US currency is printed!
Crane Field is located at Belcher Circle off Granite Place in East Milton. East Congregational Church is one block away, on the corner of Adams Street and Granite Place.
Admission to the Dedication Ceremony and Block Party is free. However, a donation to the Milton Food Pantry in the form of either one dollar or one non-perishable food item per person will be gratefully accepted, and will earn the donor a one dollar raffle ticket.
