Joyce Seeks Additional Blue Hills Parkway Support

In anticipation of another five-year Capital Investment Plan, Senator Brian A. Joyce, Chair of the Senate Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets, is asking the Patrick administration for additional funding to continue the renovation of the historic Blue Hills Parkway in Milton as Phase III renovation continues.

The Blue Hills Parkway, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is an important link between the Neponset River and Blue Hills Reservations – two major DCR facilities that provide Milton residents with walking and biking trails and much natural scenic beauty. The Parkway also serves as a gateway to the town, and hosts Milton High School, Tucker School, and the Pine Tree Brook senior residences.

Since elected, Joyce has consistently advocated for safety and aesthetic improvements to the parkway, bringing over $6.5 million to the path since 2002. Currently, the parkway is in Phase III of a four-phase renovation. Last year, Senator Joyce secured $150,000 for the planning and permitting of Phase III and is now looking to get shovels on the ground.
