Milton Reads, the town wide cultural initiative sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Library, held a trivia contest at Abby Park late Sunday afternoon that was themed to the Milton Reads book selection The Gardner Heist: The True Story of the World’s Largest Unsolved Art Theft by Ulrich Boser. And what a contest it was!
That space to the right as you go through the door was packed with several teams of between 4 and 6 members equipped with books, crib sheets, smart phones and other aids, all of which were banned by the quizmaster Will Adamczyk, who also moonlights during the day as the Director of the Milton Public Library. There were 4 rounds of questions that involved identifying art works, criminals, and sequencing a series of heists in chronological order (good luck with that).
After 4 rounds. . . the results were tallied and there was . . . a TIE! The Dewey Decimals and Team Harvey went to sudden death. In the end the Dewey Decimals prevailed. It was great fun. The Friends did an excellent job and with luck there will be additional events in the future.
Special thanks to the generosity of Abby Park, which provided appetizers, a perfect setting, and was particularly welcoming to all comers, many of whom stayed to enjoy dinner in the restaurant.
Next up in the series of programs around this community read is a tour of the Gardner Museum scheduled for September 21 and a showing of the documentary Stolen about the Gardner Heist on September 23rd. You can learn more here.
Here are some snap shots from the event.
