To get the entire community reading together, the second annual Milton Reads is underway and the 2013 book selection is The Gardner Heist: The True Story of the World’s Largest Unsolved Art Theft, written by Ulrich Boser.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Milton library, Milton Reads launches on June 12 and will continue though the summer and fall. Multiple library copies of The Gardner Heist will be available for borrowing. Discounted paperbacks will be sold at the Friends Book Shop at the library and at various venues to be announced.
“The Gardner Heist” is a page-turner about the 1990 art theft at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The book examines the many criminal suspects, methods, and motives, with surprising ties to Milton, Quincy, Braintree and Boston. Author Boser reports through the stories of witnesses, suspects, defense attorneys, and police. It’s an eye opener about art theft!
The town wide literacy project will bring the community together to read, discuss, and celebrate through a common book. Exciting related activities are planned by The Friends.
Last year, the first-ever Milton Reads featured the book, “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Stayed tuned for more details or volunteer to be part of this community project.
