The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a trespassing incident at the Quabbin Reservoir on Tuesday. The FBI and Mass. State Police are handling the investigation.

At this time, there is no evidence of any water quality issues or problems at Quabbin. DCR’s inspection of the area and shoreline, by land and by boat, has not found anything unusual. Water quality samples were analyzed at MWRA’s lab and all came back within normal ranges.

MWRA recently implemented a sophisticated, real-time water quality monitoring system that would detect any abnormalities immediately.

MWRA’s real-time water quality monitoring on the Chicopee Valley Aqueduct, which supplies three communities directly from Quabbin, has continued to indicate all water quality parameters are in normal ranges and staff will continue to closely monitor the analyzers. There has been no water supplied to Boston and 50 other communities in eastern and central Massachusetts from the Quabbin since late last week. All facilities are secure.

In summary, there are no water quality issues related to this incident. Please contact us if you have you need further information.
