Duffy & Lynch no shows at final Master Planning Forum

by Frank Schroth

The third and final community forum on developing a visioning statement for a Milton Master Plan was held last Thursday at Milton High School. And for the third and final time two members of the Planning Board Ed Duffy and Bernie Lynch were absent from the master planning process. They have not participated.

The audience was somewhat smaller than at the two previous gatherings. Susan Walker of Brown Walker reviewed the input to date regarding the recommendations of what had been identified from previous sessions as important elements of Milton to preserve or improve upon. She presented a draft of Community Vision and Goals. Here is one example,

East Milton Square, Milton Village and the Central Avenue Business District provide us with opportunities to create thriving community Centers.

We will advance municipal policies and regulations that allow strategic growth of these mixed used centers with compatibly scaled buildings, distinctive public spaces, and safe and efficient roads and parking.

Large sheets with the goals were posted and the audience was invited to review and write additional comments and recommendations. Alex Whiteside and Mike Kelly of the Planning Board were in attendance. Each has attended at least one other session. Ms. Innes, who is on the Master Plan Committee, was also there.

You can find all the materials related to the development of the visioning statement here. Town Meeting will be taking up an article to fund the balance of Master Plan in early May.
