Congratulations to the members of the Boston Police Department SWAT team on a well executed tactical extraction and negotiated surrender of the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing. No matter what you may think of police officers, it is the greatest profession in the world. From the very second of the explosion of the two devices, we saw men and women in blue run without fear right into danger to save human life. In the days that would follow, hundreds of local and state officers with help from the FBI, would log hundreds of man hours trying to identify and capture these suspects. In the end, these men would not sacrifice their freedom and, as we saw yesterday, attempts to apprehend them would cost police officers dearly. Tonight, America watched a tense and dangerous end to this situation. Faced with imminent danger to human life these officers patiently and professionally placed themselves in a position that allowed this man to surrender.

We hope that all citizens can resume their lives and rest peacefully tonight. Nice job by all and thank you for your support and kind words…God bless…
