Local officials speak to issues facing our community’s future

by Steve Nelson, East Congregational Church

Following Worship on April 7, East Church was thrilled to present a panel discussion entitled “New Perspectives: Connecting to the Future,” featuring seven local officials and social services representatives from Milton and Quincy.

The panelists were asked to comment, from their individual perspectives, on what they view as the biggest issues in our communities both currently and in the near future, and also how faith communities in general and East Church in particular can minister to those issues.

L to R: Richard Wells (Chief, Milton Police), Claire Hagen (Interfaith Social Services), Mary Gormley (Superintendent of Schools), Michael Cunningham (Veteran Affairs Coordinator), Mary Anne Sullivan (Milton Council on Aging), Anne Mahoney (Quincy School Committee), Brian Palmucci (Quincy City Council) and East Church's Lynda-Lee Sheridan who moderated the panel discussion

The Milton Police Department posted the following to their Facebook page regarding the forum:

Thank you to everyone who attended this mornings forum at the East Congregational Church. Your membership was gracious and open with Chief Wells and all of the community leaders present. We hope that you will remain in contact with MPD in the future. You should be proud of your leadership and the contributions each of you make to our community…. Thank you again.
