Naturalist and historian John J. Galluzo walked for 30 minutes on protected open space, every day, in every town and city in Massachusetts. His new book, Half an Hour a Day Across Massachusetts: Finding Open Space in All 351 Bay State Communities, chronicles his sightings and experiences. His talk and book signing are set for Wednesday, April 3rd at 7 PM in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton.
John Galluzzo is the author of more than 35 books on local history and nature, including The North River: Scenic Waterway of the South Shore, Half an Hour a Day on Foot: An Obsessive Exploration of the Nature of the South Shore of Massachusetts. After nearly a decade with Mass Audubon’s South Shore Sanctuaries, he is now the director of education for the South Shore Natural Science Center in Norwell. A regular columnist for the Hull Times, Scituate Mariner and South Shore Living magazine, he is also a recognized expert on Coast Guard history, and director of the United States Life-Saving Service Heritage Association. His most recent walking project, due out in 2014, is Half an Hour a Day With the Dead.
