2nd Master Planning forum

by Frank Schroth

Over 50 residents turned out for the 2nd Master Planning forum held at Cunningham Hall last night. The 2nd forum picked up from the last one. Sue Walker, of Brown Walker Associates, reviewed the preliminary vision ideas that came out of the first session. These ideas about Milton’s future included but were not limited to:

  • Milton is a vibrant and balanced community that values its high quality of life for residents and businesses.
  • Milton is a community of neighborhoods, each with their own unique character but commonly offering a balanced residential experience with convenient access to recreation, transportation, and services.
  • Places for planned and chance comity activities and recreation are enhanced and maintained to strengthen social capital and support a sense of community.
  • Milton’s residents, businesses, and civic and social leaders work together to assure that the community evolves aligned with its shared vision.

Last night’s workshop had groupls review the preliminary goals and identify those they agreed with, disagreed with, as well as add to. Attendees, which included Bob Sweeney from the Board of Selectmen and Mike Kelly from the Planning Board, were also encouraged to pen suggestions to large sheets of paper that lined the walls.

The progress of the visioning process is being captured on a web site maintained by Brown Walker Associates. You can find it here.

There will be one more session held sometime in late April.

Here are some photos of last night’s event.
