The Milton Art Center is seeking art from all Milton’s youth to feature in the windows of local businesses throughout the month of March for a town-wide art show ART IN THE WINDOWS. The Center is collecting work from Milton’s art teachers as well as holding a banner contest to celebrate YOUTH ART MONTH.
It’s great art project for kids to do over school break and/or on a cold day. No doubt it will be fun for the them to find and see their artwork around town in March! And (I hate to say it) if we are stuck inside like last weekend, it’s a perfect antidote to boredom and too much TV and video games.
The Milton Art Center will hold a free and open event on Saturday, Feb. 23, 10-Noon, where kids and families can make artwork to be featured in the show.
March is YOUTH ART MONTH and we want to shine a light on young artists and art education in Milton. The Milton Art Center (MAC) is collaborating with Milton’s art teachers and merchants to turn Milton into a town-wide art gallery called ART IN THE WINDOWS featuring kids’ artwork.
Please send us your big, bold visions and designs on paper (see flyer for details). All artwork received will be displayed at businesses throughout March.
A panel of judges will select up to six designs to feature on banners around town promoting the arts in our community (banners generously sponsored by the Milton Chamber of Commerce). MAC will publish an online gallery guide on our website and Facebook page so you can find where your artwork is displayed in town.
Drop or mail your design to the MAC by Thursday, Feb. 28. The MAC is open 3-5:30 on Fridays and Saturdays 9-4: you can also drop your design at Kumon, 362 Granite Avenue, Milton, MA 02186, Monday through Thursday from 2-7:30.
Want to make artwork with others?
All are welcome to MAC’s Saturday Drop-In Art program on Feb. 23, 10-Noon. Materials will be provided, along with help from the MAC’s artists in residence. Just bring your imaginations! For every piece of artwork MAC receives, an anonymous donor will donate $1 per piece up to $500 total to benefit MAC’s Saturday Drop-in Art program.
