The envelope, please! Movie critics Ty Burr and Wesley Morris return with lively banter and predictions for the popular “Handicapping the Oscars” program. On Wednesday, February 20th, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Public Library. The Boston Globe film critics for Movie Nation will discuss the likely winners for this year’s Academy Awards. Find out how your favorite movie may fare!
Ty Burr’s new book, Gods Like Us: On Movie Stardom and Modern Fame will be available for sale and autographing at the discounted price of $20. His book is an anecdotal history of stardom that is insightful, entertaining, and most revealing.
This event is sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Public Library and it is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, visit www.miltonlibrary.org or contact Jean Hlady, (617) 698-5757.
NOTE: Wesley Morris is no longer a critic for the Globe. He recently left to join ESPN’s Grantland. Janice Page joined Ty Burr on the front page of Sunday’s Movie section. Mr. Morris recently won a Pulitzer for his criticism. But Ms. Page is no slouch at writing. She picks “Argo” to win best picture. She writes, “‘Lincoln’? It only has Daniel Day-Lewis emancipating slaves. ‘Argo’ has Hollywood itself emancipating hostages.” Whoever shows up – it will be great.
