Genealogy Topic at Temple Shalom

Judy Izenberg, a board member of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston, will be the guest speaker at the next Temple Shalom of Milton Brunch Speaker Series on Sunday, October 21, at the Pierce Middle School at 10:15 AM. Ms. Izenberg’s topic will be “A Taste of Jewish Genealogy.”

Researching one’s ancestry can be a complex endeavor, requiring persistence, patience, networking, research knowledge and some luck. Ms Izenberg will share her experience of researching her family for ten years, showing the types of information she found, how she found it, and what she’s still seeking.

Ms. Izenberg has been on the Board of the Jewish Genealogical Society for over seven years, has been its Co-President, and currently serves as Volunteer Coordinator. She has found family of her own in Ukraine and Argentina as well as in the U.S. She is a retired elementary school teacher, and volunteers teaching English as a second language and delivering food for Meals on Wheels and Metrowest Harvest.

The public is invited to the brunch, which begins at 10:15 AM, with the speaker starting at approximately 11 AM. A $5 donation for the brunch is requested to defray costs, and a call to the temple office would help in planning. Temple Shalom’s brunches are being held at the Pierce Middle School, 451 Central Avenue (entrance on Brook Road), Milton.
