Elders from Milton and the surrounding communities will be celebrating National Adult Day Services Week at Cooperative Elder Services located at 1200 Brush Hill Road in Milton, from September 16-22, 2012. National Adult Day Services Week was proclaimed on September 27, 1983 by President Ronald Regan to raise awareness about the availability and accessibility of adult day programs nationwide. Presently, there are over 5,000 Adult Day Programs in the United States. The National Adult Day Services Association is celebrating “Care, Compassion, and Community” as this year’s theme. Cooperative Elder Services of Milton provides a safe, structured day time environment with the goal of preventing or delaying nursing home placement. The program includes nursing care, medication management, therapeutic activities, socialization with peers, a light breakfast, full hot lunch and afternoon snack.
