We were shocked and saddened to learn yesterday that Ed O’Brien recently passed away. Ed was a neighbor of ours for years. He coached our son in baseball. His daughter baby sat our children. He was only 55.
The O’Briens moved off the street years ago and purchased a place elsewhere in town. Our children got older and the ties that bound us loosened over time. Yet when we did get together it felt as if no time had passed. That was due in large part to Ed who always looked you in the eye and took such a genuine interest in what you had to say. We would talk about baseball and kids and we would laugh.
Ed O’Brien was so alive and positive. The trace of a smile never left his face.
Sadly, he has left us. You can find his obituary notice here.
