Ann White died recently at age 64. Among other roles, she was a longtime Milton Town Meeting Member and Chair of the Personnel Board. I sat next to Ann at our last Town Meeting in May. It was on the second night at the High School. On the first night, of course, we held a historic Town Meeting session at First Parish as part of our marking of Milton’s 350th. Ann was among those we recognized at First Parish when former town committee members and officials were all asked to stand and be acknowledged for their service.
I didn’t know Ann very well. I had simply observed enough and interacted enough with her to see she was as solid a community member and human being as they come. When she rose to speak at Town Meeting, you knew her comments were going to be accurate, practical and focused on fairness, really a model for a Town Meeting Member. Ann’s passing is a sad loss for her family, her friends and the Town of Milton.
