Annual Bike Ride to benefit The McCourt Foundation Scheduled for September 22, 2012
The McCourt Foundation’s third annual Tour de South Shore will take place on September 22, 2012. With $410 already raised by Team Abby Park, captain Ed Chapman hopes to raise even more money than last year, with even more riders. His team raised a record $26,000 in the Tour’s second year, with 42 riders. That feat eclipsed their donation from the previous year, of $4,700.
Chapman chose to start riding for The McCourt Foundation because he believes it supports a great cause: advancing Alzheimer’s and MS research. He has worked with Alzheimer’s care in the past and knows the McCourt’s personally, and sympathizes with what they went through with their parents having Alzheimer’s and MS. Abby Park is a restaurant local to the Foundation, and Chapman wanted to support such a great local cause. As owner of Abby Park, Chapman saw a great way to get involved and give back to the community. By reaching out to his friends and family he was able to assemble an all-star team and raise an incredible amount of money.
Abby Park will be holding two fundraising events before the Tour de South Shore. All are welcome! The first will be a comedy night, with Ed being the guest bartender. All tips he receives will be donated towards his team. The second will be a wine tasting event. The Abby Park team has done tremendous work fundraising for the Tour de South Shore and has made a huge impact on the success of the McCourt Foundation. You can make a donation directly to Ed’s effort here.
