Scenes from a busy week end

by Frank Schroth

Following is a brief slide show of events that took place here in Milton this past week-end. Unfortunately, we missed the pancake breakfast and the DPW Open House. But we did make it to the MHS ergathon, cheered on the Avon Breast Cancer walkers, and stopped by the Brookwood plant sale on Sunday morning.

The ergathon was a fundraiser for the Milton Crew team. It raised both funds and awareness of the sport at Milton High. The team also participated in the Moose on the Malden Regatta this past Sunday.

The Avon Breast Cancer Walk is always something of an inspiring event. Hundreds (thousands?) walked through the Columbines, down Eliot St on their way to the finish at UMass. Dressed in a wide range of bright pink apparel that did more than hint at defiance of this terrible disease.

Judy Lieberman was behind her “desk” managing the sale of plants up at Brookwood Farm. Herbs and seedlings of all sorts were available for sale. Brookwood Farm is just one of Milton’s many hidden assets. Their produce will be available for sale at the Milton Farmer’s Market which should be starting up before long at Wharf Street.
