Pierce 7th Grader Shay Kenny is being honored for her writing. Ms. Kenny along with the entire Pierce Yellowstone team entered the Jackie Robinson Breaking Barriers Essay Contest. She won the Grand Prize!! Woo Hoo! Shay’s essay highlighted her courageous efforts to stop bullying within her community.

The contest is co-sponsored by Major League Baseball and Scholastic Publishing. As Grand Prize Winner Ms. Kenney was selected as an MLB Club Prize Package Winner in the Jackie Robinson Breaking Barriers Essay Contest.  Shay will be able to share her prize with her classmates. Scholastic, Inc. and Major League Baseball have invited all students in Shay’s class and their families to an upcoming Red Sox game on Wednesday, May 2nd (Oakland A’s vs. Red Sox) at Fenway Park.

Every student in the class has been rewarded a T-shirt as well. Congratulations everybody! Go Sox!
