Changes announced in Milton High, Pierce adminstrations

In an email to parents, faculty, and staff today superintendent Gormley announced that Mr. Jette, current principal of the Pierce Middle School, would be replacing Dr. Joseph Arangio as principal of Milton High School when he retires at the end of this year.

In addition, Ms. Gormley said that Alan Cron, currently an assistant principal at the high school, will be taking a new job as principal of Rockland High School. The schools will be losing another administrator. Mr. Andrew Boles, assistant principal at Pierce Middle School, will be leaving to become the principal at the Coelho Middle School in Attleboro.

Mr. Cron had been a finalist last year for the principalship of Milton High but Dr. Arangio was appointed in part because of his experience with NEASC accreditation process. At a recent school committee meeting Citizens for a Diverse Milton encouraged the school committee and administration of be active in considering candidates of color.

In announcing Mr. Jette, Ms. Gormley said, “My priority has been and will always be the education of every student in the Milton Public Schools. I can say with confidence that the appointment of James Jette will assure that the values of Milton High School and the Milton Public Schools will continue to be a priority, as will the outstanding academic reputation of our school system and the achievement of our students.”

She thanked Mr. Cron and Mr. Boles for their years of service and asked all to join her in congratulating all three of them.
