MHS Bulletin for 04.29.09

  • Today, Juniors in Group 11B will meet for their final session of group guidance and on Thursday, April 30, Juniors in Group 11C will meet for their final session.
  • Any AP students who missed their pre-registration session will meet in the cafeteria during Activity Period on Wednesday.
  • College Mini-Fair for Juniors on Thursday from 8:45 to 9:18 in the Field House.  We are expecting sixty college representatives.  The list is available on Edline and in the guidance office. Thursday is a B Block Day and students must obtain a pass in guidance and have it signed by their B period teacher. Only juniors with signed passes will be admitted.
  • Debate Club will have a brief meeting today directly after school at 2:20 in room 212 to confirm the next topic of debate.
  • Asian Culture Club will meet today to discuss elections and t-shirts.
  • Seniors:  Please remember to bring in a small envelope (with one 42 cent stamp) addressed to the college you will be attending.  Also, bring in all your acceptance (or rejection) letters for your counselor to copy.  This information is extremely important for the counselors in compiling statistical data.  Thank you for your cooperation.
  • The Michael Devin Scholarship has been posted.  Please pick up a copy in guidance.  A very short essay is required.  Deadline: Friday.
  • Poetry Club rehearsals will be in 211 all week. All performers must attend.
  • Fashion Show meetings today and Thursday.  See Deidre-Ann or Mr. Costa if you cannot make it.  If you should choose to miss one of these days, your name will be removed from the roster.
  • Key Club meeting after school today in Room 243 to elect officers and plan a spring project.
  • Memorial bracelets for Princesse Samantha Revelus will be on sale for $2 at all three lunches all week.  All proceeds will go to her family to help pay Serafina’s medical bills.
  • GSA members will be selling Skittles this week to support the Day of Silence.  Please pay $1 to Nancy Killoran, Bryan Doherty, Ariel Bounas, Rachel Lipton or Betsy Meyer.
  • Community Service:  1) The Youth Tennis program will be held on Saturday mornings from May 2nd to June 13th.  Two to three volunteers are needed – you do not need to be a tennis player.  Please contact Mr. Dimanno at pdimanno@townofmilton.org.  2) Students are needed at the Collicot Science Fair on April 30th from 6 pm until 8 pm.  Email response to collicotpto@gmail.com.  3) We will be cleaning up Brooks Field on May 2nd from 9 am to noon.  Please meet at the Field House doors.  Gloves and bags will be provided.
  • Senior Prom tickets will be on sale starting Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 15 in Ms. Yifru’s room (116) before and after school.  The cost is $55 per person, cash or check made payable to Milton High School.
  • Attention Seniors: Everything must go in a clearance sale!  Support your class by purchasing the leftover senior t-shirts and 2009 MHS athletics t-shirts at a discount price! For sale in Ms. Yifru’s room.
  • Come to see the Senior Talent Show this Sunday at 4pm in the auditorium. Buy your tickets early at all lunches for a discount price. We must sell 40 tickets for the show to go on!!!
  • Attention Seniors: Caps & Gowns are in! You can pay for your cap and gown in Ms McDonough’s Room (118). The cost is $20 until May 8th; it will go up $5 a week after that.
  • Regarding Children’s Hospital Blood Mobile:   The National Honor Society would like to thank all of you who have signed up to donate blood.  We have reached our goal of sixty volunteers.  Please meet outside of room 108 this Friday at your scheduled time.
  • Drama Club members:  Anyone interested in running for an officer position must submit a statement as to why you deserve the position by this Thursday. Voting will take place in Mr. Bowes room on Friday after school.
  • All girls interested in playing Basketball next year please attend a brief meeting after school on Thursday in the field house.  If you cannot attend, please see Deidre Finn or Devon Reilly.
  • Photography Club mandatory meeting on Thursday for all who plan on attending photo-shoot on Sunday, May 3 at the Arnold Arboretum.  Permission slips will be given out and details will be discussed.
  • The Sewing Club will meet on Thursday after school to work on a school project or something of your own. Hope to see you then.
  • Crepes Party for members of the French Club has been rescheduled to Thursday.  Bring the crepes to room 306 after school.  Any questions, please see Jill Hayward or Anna Todd.
  • Come and play Ultimate Frisbee on Thursday after school at the lower fields.  All are welcome!
  • “Live from Milton”, an original production by the members of the Milton High School Dramatics Society will be presented Friday Night, May 1 at 7 pm in the auditorium!  One performance only!  Don’t miss it!
  • Latin Club will sponsor a toga contest on Friday, May 1st.  Come to Room 308 before Friday to sign up and pay the $1 entrance fee.  Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.  Contestants must wear t-shirts and gym shorts under their toga.
  • The Poetry Jam is Saturday! Come hear your peers’ words at play! On Saturday at 3:00 pm, the many talented writers of the Poetry Club will be performing a sensational variety    of original verse in the auditorium for your enjoyment. Tickets are $5 for students ($10 for adults) at the door. Proceeds will be donated to a summer camp fund for Serafina Revelus,  as well as to Close to Home, a charity that focuses on the prevention of domestic abuse among teens. Come hear the talent and support a worthy cause.
