Pierce Middle School recognized for commitment to student nutrition and health

The Pierce Food Service Staff and school recently received the “US Healthy Challenge Award” at the Bronze level from the US Department of Agriculture for their commitement to student nutrition and health. This award is a significant acknowledgement of the efforts of the service staff ane they are to be heartily commended. Only 1% of schools nationwide receive this honor.

Jackie Morgan, Director of Food Services, said, “This award proves our commitment to excellence in both nutrition and physical activity to promote a healthy school environment for our children. ”

Ms. Morgan was notified of the award by Pamela Griffen, Program Specialist in the USDA Child Nutrition Program, who wrote, “It is a wonderful accomplishment for the Food Service Department, the students, the School District and the state of Massachusetts .  .  . I would  like to thank and acknowledge your staff for all of their work .  .  .”
