MHS Bulletin for 04.16.09

  • Today, Juniors in Group 11A will meet for their final session of group guidance and juniors in Mr. Devlin’s 11C will meet for Library Lab.
  • Ultimate Frisbee:  Any student interested in playing, please meet at the lower fields at    2:30 TODAY.  Bring water!
  • Outdoors Club members and friends are reminded to meet at Shea Rink this Sunday at 11:00 am for a spring hike.  Everyone is welcome!
  • GSA will be selling t-shirts for the Day of Silence which will be held on Wednesday, April 29.  Please pay $15 to Mr. Devlin in guidance, Mme Menard in 310 or Nancy Killoran, by Friday, April 17.
  • GSA members will be selling Skittles this week and the week after vacation to support the Day of Silence.  Please pay $1 to Nancy Killoran, Bryan Doherty, Ariel Bounas, Rachel Lipton or Betsy Meyer.
  • Fashion Show practice after school today and Saturday.  See outside of Mr. Costa’s room for vacation practice schedule.
  • Tomorrow’s Teachers…time to plan a spring shadow…check in with Mrs. Mullen to make arrangements. Also…any student interested in participating in Teacher appreciation week please see Mrs. Mullen in the Child Study room. Thanks!
  • Seniors: Please remember the deadlines for the following scholarships:  Milton Kiwanis Club Scholarship (for $1,000) is due by April 24, the Fallon Ambulance EMT Training Scholarship, which is a wonderful opportunity for students entering the health field or who wish to become emergency service personnel (police. fire, etc.,) is due April 30; Milton Players Scholarship has been extended to April 17.  This scholarship is for students who have demonstrated an interest in the performing arts.
  • Seniors: Stop in guidance to pick up copies of the applications for the MHS Boosters Scholarship.  New postings:  Milton Garden Club (due May 1), National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship (6/15), the Milton Rotary Club Scholarship – community service and school activities; deadline May 15.  Copies of the Robert Watson Scholarship (for students who participated in Title I in the lower grades) are available, deadline May 1, as well as the James P. Cummings (“Jim the Barber”) Scholarship, criteria include work history, community service and an essay; deadline May 1.
  • The Recycling Club is selling t-shirts.  Support our cause!  Everyone is invited to buy one especially club members.  Bring $15 to Mrs. Cobb (room 124) by Friday, the 17th.
  • Attention Juniors: Prom tickets are being sold through this Friday, before and after school in Mrs. Damiani’s room (245). Tickets are $50 each, cash or checks payable to “Milton High School”.
  • Amnesty write-a-thon this evening from 6 to 7:30 in the faculty lounge.  New members are welcome.  Bring $3.00 for pizza.
  • The Observer will meet today in Mr. Tart’s room (218) after school.  All new writers and artists are welcome!
  • National Honor Society meeting after school today in the cafeteria to plan the blood drive.
  • All those folks working the Marathon Expo, please be at the Hynes Convention Center at 12:30 pm on Sunday, in the volunteer room.
  • Attention Best Buddies members:  If you are still interested in ordering a Best Buddies       t-shirt, please bring in your money to Mrs. Coughlin or Sophia Thompson by Thursday.     T-Shirts are $15.  Also, The MHS chapter will be holding its next chapter event in the courtyard after school on Friday. Hope to see you there!!!
  • Reading for fun on vacation, anyone? Come to the Book Club meeting Monday, April 27th, Room 215, where we will catch up on discussions of The Giver and Born Confused. And yes, there is always food! All are welcome!
  • Attention Seniors: Caps & Gowns are in! You can pay for your cap and gown in Ms McDonough’s Room (118) after April vacation. The cost is $20 for the 1st two weeks (until May 8th) and will go up $5 a week after that.
  • Last Film Night on Monday, April 27 at 6:15.  Bring money for pizza.  See Mme Laine with questions.
  • Any AP students who missed their pre-registration session will meet in the cafeteria during Activity Period on Wednesday, April 29.
