Milton Hospital welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Benjamin Thompson

Dr. Benjamin Thompson, an orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in orthopaedics and additional subspecialty training in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of sports-related injuries is joining the hospital’s orthopaedic department, joining hte practice of Michael Berry, M.D.

Most recently, Dr. Thompson completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida working side by side with world renowned orthopaedic surgeons Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Lonnie Paulos. The fellowship provided Dr. Thompson with intensive exposure to all aspects of non-operative and operative musculoskeletal patient care. His team physician experience included coverage of the national champion Auburn University football team as well as the national champion University of West Florida baseball team. Prior to completing his sports medicine fellowship, he perfomed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. During his 6 years in Worcester he provided orthopaedic coverage to the Pawtucket Red Sox, Lowell Spinners, Pro Bull Riders Tour along with several local colleges and high schools.

Dr. Thompson is a graduate of Albany Medical College and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Massachusetts Medical Society. He was recently named a Herodicus Society traveling fellow for 2010-2011, an honor only given to two sports medicine physicians every year.

A native of Milton, Dr. Thompson is dedicated to providing expert orthopaedic and sports medicine care and education to youth athletes and weekend warriors of all ages. He is passionate about the prevention of injuries in youth athletes and hopes to work closely with the surrounding community to enact educational programs aimed at promoting healthy sports participation.
