Milton Hospital, a clinical affiliate of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is pleased to welcome Nurse Practitioner Gretchen Ehrenzeller, APRN, BC to the electrophysiology department.
Ehrenzeller will join Peter J. Zimetbaum, M.D., in treating patients with heart arrhythmias at Milton Hospital through a partnership with the CardioVascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (CVI at BIDMC). Treatments may include medication therapy, electrical cardioversion, which restores normal heart rhythm with an electric shock, or the use of pacemakers, devices which are implanted under the skin to regulate the heart’s rhythm.
Ehrenzeller holds certifications from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) and is certified in medical device therapies, implantation and follow-up. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science in Nursing and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College.
Peter J. Zimetbaum, M.D., director of clinical electrophysiology at the CVI at BIDMC and associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, oversees the Milton program. Dr. Zimetbaum is a distinguished clinician, researcher and educator in the fields of electrophysiology, atrial fibrillation, cardiac intensive care and treatment of arrhythmias. Most recently, Dr. Zimetbaum was appointed Chief of Clinical Cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Beginning this spring, in addition to medical consultations, Dr. Zimetbaum will begin performing electrophysiology procedures at Milton Hospital, including those involving pacemakers. Milton Hospital’s partnership provides a seamless transition to the CVI at BIDMC when more complex procedures are needed.
