Last night was an amazing night for the Milton Foundation of Education and the Milton Public Schools. The MFE held a Backyard Bash at the Quincy Marriott and what a bash it was.
The event marked the 12th annual Celebration for Education. It is one of two events held by the MFE to raise funds in support of a wide range of academic activities and programs. (You can find a list of recent initiatives that were awarded grants here.)
Honored at the event were Anne Coghlan (MHS class of ’44) and Gary Kelly (MHS class of ’78). Both of them, according to Catherine Walsh (MHS ’80), “share a passion for the town, the Milton Public Schools and the Milton Foundation for Education (MFE) and are being honored “for their dedication to improving Milton and its public schools.” You can find the complete text of Ms. Walsh’ tribute here.)
And it was practically standing room only. . . the event sold out! There were countless silent and live auction items from local businesses, school faculty and residents.
Overall the event was an incredible testament to the community support that exists for our schools and an amazing achievement by the event co-chairs, Patti Elliott, Astrid Hajjar, and Lisa Viola.
