MPS publish FY12 fees, Cut list, Math curriculum presos

The Milton Public Schools make public all materials presented during the course of School Committee meetings. Recent items of special interest include: FY12 budget figures including fees and proposed cut list.

Athletic fees are unchanged. Full tuition for Kindergarten will increase $100, and integrated pre-school 2,4, and 5 day programs will see increases between $50 and $125. The link above provides the complete list.

District wide the schools will be reducing staff by 11.2 FTEs (full-time equivalents).  These include a high school science teacher, a high school spanish teacher,  an elementary English/Reading teacher, an elementary French/Reading teacher and a middle school teacher (TBD). The Warrant Committee will be holding a public session on the town budget this Saturday 2/19. The School Department is scheduled to present at 9:00AM. The session will be televised locally on MATV.

Changes to the math curriculum for Grades 6-12 were recently presented. The primary change is to integrate the teaching of algebra and geometry across all those grades rather than having them as discrete subjects.
