Dear Milton Officials and Concerned Residents,
Over the next 27 months, as part of the Massachusetts Recovery Plan, Milton Public Schools will receive $757,308 in funding for special education, and an additional $29,461 for preschool programs. These funds will allow schools to provide students who require special education with the services they need with a smaller impact on the regular education budget.
Although we are starting to see some positive impacts from the federal stimulus bill, it is important to note that this is a one-time influx of funds. The economic situation remains unstable and worsening. There is no doubt that next year’s budget outlook at the state and local levels remains grim, but I will continue to update you as further information becomes available to me regarding the state and local impacts of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached via email, at the State House (617-722-1643) or my home (617-696-0200).
Sincerely,
Brian A. Joyce
